I bought this book when I was going through a little bit of a stressful time, not knowing what I wanted to do with my job or my life and just genuinely not where I wanted to be. Plus I was in a really bad mood and the title just sucked me in. ‘The life changing magic of not giving a f**k’ does exactly what it says on the tin. It teaches you to stop giving so many f**ks about silly things that actually aren’t that important at all.
For me, I think I have this attitude anyway. So the book wasn’t that much of a personal change. Having just finished the book I do believe some of the things that are written in here have actually sunk in and I’m more aware of things I should give a f**k about and the things I really really shouldn’t. Here’s a few examples of things I have realised I don’t give a f**k about:
•I work early shifts sometimes getting up at 1am, that last thing I want to do is sit and get my make up perfect. Why should I care? I barely see my own face throughout the day. So I stopped giving a f**k and stopped wearing eye make up and less foundation etc. It is better for my skin when I get home and now I actually look different when I go out for coffee/lunch and socialising! Oh and it saves me like an extra 10 minutes in the morning! Bonus!
•People asking me out for drinks. Now I do occasionally enjoy the odd beverage, but these days I would much rather sit in my pjs and relax with a Netflix binge than go party in the bars or sit in a pub drinking alcohol. A. It’s a waste of money. B. No hangover! And C. All my pride still in tact. YES! You’ll find me in bed, happy as Larry instead.
•Politics. I don’t understand it. I don’t care who you’re voting for. The last thing I want to do is talk about it. I’ll more than likely change the subject and just say ‘meh I don’t understand politics, anyone else hungry?’. The end.
•Not knowing where I’ll be ‘this time in 5 years’. It’s a question I get really sick of being asked. Does anyone genuinely know where they are gonna be in 5 years? Everyone feels like I should know the answer to this by now, and honestly I don’t have a single clue. And I’m learning to be okay with that. Zero f**ks given. Life is a surprise and as my friends always say, use the law of attraction. ****POSITIVE THINKING POSITIVE THINKING****
I could go into way more detail but I’ll leave you with those examples. The way this book is written is amazing. It’s funny, personal and contains the right advice for anyone wanting to spend more time on being them rather than being someone you think you should be. I highly recommend this for people who are still stuck in between caring too much and trying to move on, it will push you in the right direction. There’s quite a few actual LOL moments written in here too. I think it makes you question what is important in your life. And what isn’t. Do you have enough f**ks in your budget to worry about it?
No?? Then don’t. Go buy this book, grab a coffee and get stuck in.
