Birthday in The Cotswolds

Last year me and Thom both made a pact that we wouldn’t be in England for our birthdays. It sounds like an amazing pact but with my birthday being in April & us just getting back from our 3 month trip in February, this year we couldn’t afford it!! (Last year we were in Mexico!!).So we decided to give our home country a go and head to The Cotswolds for 2 nights.

We drove up on my actual birthday after we both finished work. It took just over 2 hours to drive there and we had already booked and paid for a new Premier Inn in Cirencester. The hotel was lovely and spacious!! Perfect for a little base to come back too. (And the towels are the fluffiest towels EVER!!!). I finally opened all my presents and headed to the local pub downstairs for tea as we were tired from work and the drive down.

We woke up the next day refreshed and ready to explore! Our first stop was Castle Combe which was a 35 minute drive from Cirencester. This village is honestly the cutest village I have ever seen!! Thom told me they used this village in the film Stardust and it really does look magical.

We got there quite early around 10:30 and it was reasonably quiet. Just a few tourists wandering around taking photos.

Seriously cute. Can you imagine living here?? Ugh I’d move there tomorrow!! It must be strange though having people taking so many photos of your house if you do live there! There was one house that had a small stand of homemade cakes outside her front door and a honesty box! So amazing!

Our next stop was into Cirencester for a look around and a stop in a few pubs!

I found the most amazing waffle place called HeSaysSheWaffles down a backstreet in the town. I had a chocolate fudge waffle (YUM) and Thom tried the nacho waffle?! Crazy but so so yummy!!! They were so so good!!!

Another village we went to visit was Bibury. Another tiny tiny place full to the brim of tourists. It got so full the traffic couldn’t get through because of all the coaches!! A beautiful beautiful place though!

Serious house goals here again!!! The brickwork on these houses are just amazing!!

Another thing we kept seeing all over The Cotswolds was fields and fields of yellow flowers. Honestly this place is just so beautiful I cannot get over it. I just had to stop by and have a photo in one of these fields of yellow!!

If you want a beautiful weekend break away, head to The Cotswolds. It’s worth every penny!!! I had the best birthday weekend! Thanks The Thom Blog xxx
